West Bengal: 43 kg cannabis seized, two arrested
On August 17, the Border Security Force (BSF) jawans seized 24 kg of cannabis from Berhampore in Murshidabad district in West Bengal.
Kolkata, Sept 12: Forty-three kilograms of cannabis was seized and two persons were arrested by the West Bengal CID from Nadia district's Chakdah region in the state, said police.
Acting on a tip-off, an anti-terrorism squad team of the state CID conducted a raid in the early hours of today on NH-34 near Chakdah Chowrastha More, and seized the drug from a vehicle and arrested the two, a senior officer of the agency said.
Haraprosad alias Debbasish Dutta and Ramprosad Dutta have been arrested after the cannabis were recovered from underneath the seat of the vehicle they were travelling in, he said.
"Both the persons have been arrested and booked under relevant sections of the IPC. We are looking into the matter and checking whether the duo are part of a gang or not," the official added.
