'We made an honest attempt to bring justice': Gurugram Police on Pradyuman case

The accused juvenile was yesterday remanded to three-day CBI custody.

With the Gurugram Police drawing flak for making Ryan School bus conductor a 'scapegoat' in Pradyuman murder probe, Commissioner Sandeep Khirwar on Thursday said that their investigation was in-process when the CBI took over.

The CBI, which is now investigating the murder of 7-year-old Pradyuman Thakur in the school premises, on Wednesday, arrested a class 11th student in connection with the case. The accused juvenile has been remanded to a three-day CBI custody, since yesterday evening.

The Gurugram police chief said that they had not concluded the probe and were in the process of gathering the evidence.

"There was no pressure at all. We did an honest attempt to bring justice to the family," he told the media.

"We had carried out an investigation at a very early stage and then we handed over the investigation to CBI which I am hopeful will bring culprits to book and bring justice to the family," Khirwar added.

The Central Bureau of Investigation will now focus on finding out if more people were involved.

We need to reconstruct the crime scene, the CBI counsel told the Juvenile Justice Board on Wednesday.

Pradyuman was found murdered in the bathroom of the Ryan International School. There was a twist in the tale on Wednesday when the CBI said that the murder was committed by the 16-year-old boy and not the conductor who was earlier made an accused in the case.
