Siddaramaiah hits back at PM Modi's '2+1' formula, reminds him of 2014 elections

Responding to Modi's "2+1" formula jibe, Siddaramaiah reminded the PM that he too contested from 2 parliamentary seats in the 2014 Lok Sabha seats.

A minute after Modi's speech, CM Siddaramaiah took to Twitter and wrote "Was it fear that drove you to contest from 2 parliamentary constituencies (Varanasi & Vadodara) Mr. PM @narendramodi ? Of course you are a 56-inch man, you would have some clever explanation!! Forget 2 seats, Sir. Worry about the fact that your party will not cross 60-70!," Siddaramaiah tweeted.

Meanwhile, the Karnataka Congress has tweeted its own play on PM Modi's '2+1' jibe. "BJP's 'Corruption Formula' to Loot Karnataka. 2 + 1 = 2 Reddys and 1 Yeddy. Why don't you talk about this formula Modi," tweeted Karnataka Congress:

Addressing a rally in Chamarajanagar Prime Minister Narendra Modi mocked Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah for his decision to contest from two seats in the 2018 state assembly polls.

"I was reading the papers and saw a 2+1 formula in Karnataka. This is a version of family politics in Karnataka. This is the innovation of the CM of Karnataka. He is fearing defeat so changing seats, fighting two seats. And, in his old seat he has sent his son," PM Modi said while launching his campaign blitzkrieg in the poll-bound state.

Siddaramaiah is contesting from Chamundeshwari constituency in Mysuru and also from Badami constituency in Bagalkot district as well. Siddaramaiah's son Yatindra is contesting from Varuna in his first state election.

Modi hits out at Congress president Rahul Gandhi, says if you don't follow Manmohan Singh's advice, at least follow your mother Sonia Gandhi's advice. "Your mother said we will provide electricity to all households by 2009, you were in power till 2014, what happened to that promise," said PM Modi.

The Congress president recently dared me that if he (Rahul Gandhi) speaks for 15 minutes in Parliament, I won't be able to sit for the entire duration there. That he will speak for 15 minutes is a big thing in itself. And that I will not be able to sit for 15 minutes reminds me, 'Wah kya scene hai', he said.

"I dare you to speak for 15 minutes without having a paper in your hands, about the achievements of your Congress government in Karnataka. That will help the Karnataka people decide," he added.

Polling for the 224-member Assembly will be held on May 12, and results will be declared on the 15th of the month.
