Want to turn 'brain-drain' into 'brain-gain': PM
Adressing at the inauguration of 14th Pravasi Bhartiya Divas in Bengaluru, Modi said NRIs and PIOs have made outstanding contributions to their chosen fields.
Bengaluru, Jan 08: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated 14th Pravasi Bhartiya Divas in Bengaluru. Modi said that over 30 million Indians living abroad have left their footprints all over the world.
Adressing Indian diaspora, Modi said that NRIs and PIOs have made outstanding contributions to their chosen fields. Praising Indians living abroad Modi said it represents the best of Indian culture, ethos and values.

''Remittance of close to 69 billion dollars annually by overseas Indians makes an invaluable contribution to the Indian economy'', Modi said.
Calling the Indian diaspora a 'valuable partner in our journey of development', PM said the objective was to turn 'brain drain' into 'brain gain'.

Modi also praised External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj for her proactive and prompt response in reaching out to distressed Indians abroad using social media.
PM announced that Pravasi Kaushal Vikas Yojna would be launched for Indian youth who seek employment overseas.
