Voter ID scam: EC’s special observer to submit report
The Election Commission has sent a special observer to Karnataka after nearly 10,000 voter ID cards were recovered in the Raja Rajeshwari Nagar constituency on Tuesday. The deputy election commissioner Chandrabhushan Kumar will probe into the matter and submit a report at the earliest. A war of words has broken out between the Congress and the BJP following the seizure of the cards. The issue was even raised by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and BJP national president Amit Shah during their election rallies on Wednesday.
The EC has found that prima facie some of the cards recovered were original. However it is yet to be ascertained why such a huge amount of cards were stacked up at an apartment ahead of the polls. The BJP alleged that most of the cards were fake and it was meant to help the Congress candidate in the constituency. The Congress has however denied the charge.
