Speaking about India's decision of banning the movie, which was based on infamous Dec 2012 Delhi gangrape case, the foreign reporter said, "I have been to India but I never knew that India was so unsafe for women."

Reacting against the foreign reporter's statement on India, Barkha Dutt said, "Now this is where I have a fierce disagreement with the narrative that's being built around my country."

Defending her country at the global forum, Barkha Dutt pointed out at the statistics which showed UK has more number sexual assault cases than India. She also highlighted that while a woman contesting for presidential election is a news in US, India already was governed by a woman Prime Minister.
