Venkaiah Naidu condoles demise of Vinod Khanna, calls him daunting politician

The political leaders such as Venkaiah Naidu, Rajnath Singh, Sonia Gandhi on Thursday condoled the death of veteran actor Vinod Khanna.

New Delhi, April 27: Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday expressed shock over the demise of veteran actor and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Vinod Khanna. He said that the late leader was a daunting person, who worked for the people of his constituency till the last moment of his life.

Naidu said that Khanna was hardworking and committed person and added that Khanna's demise has brought huge loss to both political world and film industry.

"I feel very sad to know that Shri. Vinod Khanna our colleague in Parliament and a veteran actor is no more. He entered in BJP in 1997 and became Member of Parliament in 1999. He has been a four time MP from the BJP. He also served as union minister in the Union Government. Very duty minded. I have done many campaigns with him," Naidu told ANI.

Naidu added that Khanna was punctual in his duties and used to participate in many programmes for the party.

With grief Naidu said that BJP lost a good politician and an actor and added that Khanna was a lovely person.

Naidu expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family and said that may Khanna's soul rest in peace.

Similarly, Home Minister Rajnath Singh took to Twitter and expressed his condolence over Khanna's demise and said that the actor had carved a special place in the hearts of millions of Indians.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi also condoled the death of veteran actor.

Sonia said that she remembers Khanna as a gifted actor who dominated the silver screen with his outstanding persona. She expressed solidarity with Khanna's family and prayed for the departed soul.

It is to remind that the veteran actor was hospitalised and later discharged from HN Reliance Foundation and Research Centre in Girgaum of Mumbai due to severe dehydration. He was also reportedly battling cancer for years. The veteran actor appeared in 141 films between 1968 and 2013 and also forayed into politics by joining the BJP.
