Utkal Express derailment: Strict action against lapses, says Mohd Jamshed
Mohammad Jamshed, the member Traffic Railway Board and director general (Health) Railway Board on Sunday said that the Utkal Express derailment was an unfortunate incident where around 20 people died and 92 were injured when 14 coaches of the Puri-Haridwar-Kalinga derailed near Khatauli railway station in Muzaffarnagar.
The accident took place at 5.46 pm, as the train was crossing the Khatauli station yard at a speed of 105 kmph.
While addressing media, Jamshed said that Traffic on the line will be restored around 10 pm. He further said,''As per directions of Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu, strict action will be taken against those found guilty prima facie.''
He also said that,''Commissioner Railway Safety, Northern Circle will begin enquiry from tomorrow in Utkal Express derailment case.''
Earlier today, a case has been registered against unknown persons under various sections including 304 A of IPC (death due to negligence).
