New Delhi, May 19: In yet another shocking incident in Akhilesh Yadav's Uttar Pradesh, five Dalit women were paraded naked and caned by 15 OBC villagers.

The incident occurred in Uttar Pradesh's Shahjahanpur district.

"They dragged us out of our houses on Saturday, stripped us in the middle of the village, beat us with batons and took us to a tea stall on the Saraya-Budhwana Road where passersby stopped to leer at us. This continued for about four hours before some other villagers intervened," one of the victims, whose son has allegedly run away with the OBC girl was quoted as saying in an Indiatoday report.

As per reports, fifteen people have been booked in the incident and an inquiry has been ordered into the case.

Reports also suggest that after the girl eloped, the policemen did not lodge the FIR. The girl's family had informed the police about the abduction of the girl but the FIR was only lodged after the Dalit women were assaulted.

"After the girl eloped with the boy, there was a delay on the part of these two policemen (inspector Shakti Singh Tomar and in-charge of Halka, sub-inspector Mahipal Singh) in lodging an FIR," Shahjahanpur SP R P S Yadav was quoted as saying in a TOI report.

"The cops were trying to trace the girl but had not filed the FIR. It aggravated the matter which led the girl's family to retaliate by assaulting the women from the boy's family," the report further said.

Meanwhile, both the girl and the boy are still missing.
