UP: Police still looking for man involved in killing of Allahabad Law student
Three days after a 26-year-old man was beaten to death at a restaurant in Uttar Pradesh's Allahabad, main accused is yet to be arrested.
According to the police, the man has been identified as Vijay Shankar Singh, an Indian Railways employee has been missing since the killing. It is also learnt that Singh has some links to a politician and strongman.
Dileep (26), and two of his friends had on Friday came to a restaurant in Karnalganj when an altercation broke out with some persons there.
Soon after, they assaulted Dileep with sticks and batons, leaving him grievously injured. He succumbed to his injuries two days after the group thrashed him.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Adityanath has announced Rs. 20 lakh compensation for the family of Dilip Saroj, the law student who died after being beaten with a hockey stick, an iron road and bricks on Friday night.
An NDTV report says,''The Allahabad Police has said on record that Vijay Shankar Singh has links to a politician and strongman from the Sultanpur district, Chandra Bhadra Singh or Sonu Singh. Vijay Shankar Singh is also from Sultanpur.''
Earlier on Monday, a large number of students from the Allahabad University protested on the streets, accusing the police of delaying the investigation and not going after the main accused.
