UP horror: 6-year-old raped while she went for bath at well, victim undergoing treatment

By oneindia staff

Lucknow, July 23: As rapes of minors continue unabated, the latest case of sexual assault has been reported from Uttar Pradesh.

According to a report by ANI, a 6-year-old girl from Uttar Pradesh's Amroha was raped while she left home to take bath at a well. The victim was later found in a state of unconsciousness by her family.

The father of the victim has demanded that the culprit should be given death penalty. The accused is yet to be nabbed by the police. Meanwhile, the victim who sustained injuries during the horrific incident is undergoing treatment at a hospital. The police are probing the matter.

"Amroha: Man says,"My 6-year-old daughter was raped when she had gone to take a bath at the well. I later found her in unconscious condition. I demand the culprit should be hanged till death." Police says,"Girl is undergoing medical treatment, further probe underway."(22 July)," tweeted ANI.

In the last few months, the nation has witnessed alarming rise in the number of cases of rapes, especially of minor girls. Angry citizens of the country protested on roads in various parts of the country over the horrific rape cases reported from Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua and Uttar Pradesh's Unnao in April.

Both the cases caught the attention of the nation because of its barbarity and open support for the accused from a section of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). After its "studied silence" over crimes against women, especially minor girls, the Narendra Modi government approved the ordinance to allow courts to award death penalty to those convicted of raping girls under 12 in April.
