The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday cleared 25-acre land in Ayodhya to make way for a Ramayana Museum. Two days after taking over as the chief minister, Yogi Adityanath made the first move towards realising the centre's plan of setting up a dedicated museum that would depict the life of Rama as told in the epic, Ramayana. The land is likely to be handed over in a week's time.

The proposal that was shelved by the previous Samajwadi party government was given a new lease of life by the new BJP government in the state that cleared transferring of land to the Centre. The Centre had allocated Rs 150 plus crore for the museum that would be built near Ram Janma Bhoomi.

The Uttar Pradesh government's plans to provide land for the museum comes on the day the Supreme court suggested that the Ram Mandir-Babri Masjid issue be settled through talks in an amicable, way out of court.
