UP Assembly adjourned as BSP members stage a walkout
The UP Assembly, which began its monsoon session on Monday, was adjourned following an uproar over the Muzaffarnagar violence. BSP members raised slogans and staged a walkout, accusing Akhilesh Yadav and his government of not taking special efforts during the riots.
Following the communal riots, BSP had demanded that President's rule be imposed in the State, after the communal violence rocked the city claiming 47 lives and injuring thousands.
Earlier on Monday Prime Minister Manmohan Singh along with Congress party president Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi visited the relief camps in Muzaffarnagar area, where they interacted with the victims.
Their visit drew flak from the BJP who, criticised their visit and said that 'this was not the right time for a photo op.'
