Union Budget: Amid the chaos, Arun Jaitley’s Sher O Shayari wins the heart
This budget season, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley turns poet.
New Delhi, Feb 1: It's a tradition every finance minister has followed during the presentation of the annual Union Budget. This year is no different. The incumbent FM Arun Jaitley mouthed his share of Sher O Shayari (urdu couplets) while reading out the budget in Parliament on Wednesday.
Here are some of the couplets from Jaitley's budget:
"It's a new world, it's a new era, there is a new enthusiasm...old approaches were different, now we have a colourful new beginning. (Nayi duniya hai, naya daur hai, nayi hai umang, Kuchh thay pehle ke tareeke, to kuchh hai aaj ke rang dhang)," said Jaitley.
"When the light has struck the darkness, even black money has to change its colour. (Roshni aake andheron se jo takraai hai, Kaale dhan ko bhi badalna pada aaj apna rang)," added the FM, referring to the success of demonetisation to curb black money from the economy.
While slamming the budget, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi said that it was a 'hollow' budget and full of Sher O Shayari.
"It's a budget full of rhetoric. There is nothing for farmers or youngsters. (Sher o shayari ka budget hai, kisaano ke liye kuch nahi kia, yuvaon ke liye kuch nahi kiya)," said Gandhi.
"We
were
expecting
fireworks,
instead
got
a
damp
squib,"
he
added.
