Uniform, the outermost layer of my skin says Lt Col Srikant Purohit

The SC had granted Lt Col Purohit bail on a surety of Rs 1 lakh and also furnish a surety of a like sum.

For Lt Colonel Srikant Purohit, an accused in the Malegaon blasts case, the journey has been a long one. After serving nine years in jail, Purohit was granted bail by the Supreme Court earlier this week.

For Lt Col Purohit, there are two priorities. First he wants to don the uniform once again and secondly he wants to have a meal with his mother. It has been nine years since I have had a meal with my mother he said.

For Lt Col Purohit donning the uniform is of utmost priority. He calls it the outermost layer of his skin. It is now up to the Army to take a call on whether to pursue the allegations made by him against the Maharashtra Anti Terrorism Squad which had planted RDX to fix him.

Once released on bail from the Taloja jail in Navi Mumbai, he plans to head straight to his home in Pune. He will return home after nine long years and he yearns to sit down with his family and have a meal.
