Two doctors and an engineer from Bengaluru under scanner for terror plot

Bengaluru, Dec 22: Several youth from Bengaluru are likely to come under the scanner of the National Investigating Agency in connection with a plot aimed at assassinating Hindu leaders and other prominent personalities.

The plot which was unravelled first by the Bengaluru police was later handed over to the National Investigating Agency after it was found that the plot spread between Karnataka, Maharashtra and Telangana.

Terror plot: Several youth under scanner

The details of the plot have been coming to light following the questioning of Abu Sufiyan alias Assadullah Khan who was recently deported from Saudi Arabia to India. Sufiyan is a prized catch for the NIA and according to officials in the agency, he has been giving out the names of several persons including a doctor from Bengaluru who were part of the plot.

In 2013, the Bengaluru police had arrested several persons on the allegation that they were planning on killing prominent personalities in the state. During the probe it was learnt that these persons had planned on killing people in Hubli, Bengaluru, Nanded (Maharashtra) and Hyderabad.

Revenge plot:

It is being revealed during the investigation that Sufiyan along had held a meeting in Saudi Arabia in the year 2012 to plot a series of attacks in Karnataka, Maharashtra and also Telangana. Sufiyan says that a person by the name Dr Motu from Bengaluru among others too had attended the meeting in Saudi Arabia.

They had drawn out a list of Hindu leaders and also journalists who were speaking out or writing against the Muslim community. The idea was to assassinate these persons in a bid to send out a strong message, Sufiyan also claimed during the investigation.

The other names that have cropped up during the probe are that of Dr Usman Khan and Mohammad Faisal an engineer. Both are said to have moved into Saudi Arabia after details of the plot were first busted. In all the plot involved 25 persons, investigations had found of which 17 have already been arrested.
