Twitter wishes Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri a very Happy Birthday
Bengaluru, Oct 2: Gandhi Jayanati is celebrated all across the country on Oct 2. It's the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi. But many may not know that Oct 2 is Lal Bahadur Shastri's birthday as well.
Shastri was the second prime minister of the country and he was in office from June 9, 1964 to Jan 11, 1966.
[I feel sorry to see myself justified, Gandhi tells Shastri]
Lal Bahadur Shastri was the first person to be posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna. A memorial "Vijay Ghat", a memorial has been built for him in the national capital, New Delhi.
The nation remembered the two legends of the country -- Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri on their 146th and 111th birth anniversaries respectively.
Micro-blogging site Twitter has been flooded with wishes and messages on Gandhiji and Shastriji. #LalBahadurShastri and #GandhiJayanti have been trending on Twitter since Friday morning.
