New Delhi, Nov 7: Devendra Fadnavis may have won the Maharashtra assembly elections and termed the CM; however, he is yet to pass the most crucial test of confidence that is to be held on Nov 12.

All of the 287 newly-elected members will be sworn-in and the minority government, led by Devendra Fadnavis will face the confidence vote of the house. Cabinet minister Sudhir Mungantiwar said that details about the special session were chalked out at a Cabinet meeting, presided by the Chief Minister.

If everything went by schedule, November 10-11 will be scheduled for the swearing-in of the 287 new members of the 288-strong house (one of them died last week). The following morning, a new speaker would be elected followed by the vote of confidence.

Mungantiwar said,"We are confident of passing the floor test".

In the Assembly Elections of Oct 15, BJP emerged as the single largest party with 122 seats, though it was short of 23 seats to form the government, which required 145 seats. BJP's oldest ally-the Shiv Sena had won 63 seats, but is yet to make uo its mind whether to rejoin BJP or sit in the opposition. However, talks were underway between the two parties.

The National Congress Party said that it would extend 'unconditional external support' and has announced that they will abstain from voting.

After the three-day special session, the government will start planning for he winter session, which is traditionally held in Nagpur. 44-year old Fadnavis took charge of office on Saturday.
