Truce may have been struck between E Palanisami and O Panneerselvam. The BJP which played a part in this truce says that this was done to ensure that there is a stable government in Tamil Nadu and it did not want elections to take place midway.

While it all looks a rosy picture, the problem is far from over. An intelligence report speaks about the problems within the AIADMK where the fence sitters are concerned. While most of them are part of the AIADMK being run by OPS and EPS, these 50 face a dilemma.

Some are confused whether they should join the Sasikala camp or side with the BJP which for now is a safer bet for them. However the state intel indicates that these are likely to side with the Sasikala faction considering their loyalty as she was the one who had given them tickets in the first place to contest.

Some sources tell OneIndia that they may have been a misreading of this aspect and the Sasikala faction ought to have been taken into consideration while calling a truce. It is a wait and watch game now and all parties would wait for Dinakaran who is leading the Sasikala faction to make the next move. A lot would depend on how many more Dinakaran would be able to poach into his camp.

The source however added that the situation is still open ended. An ideal solution would be to ensure that all factions came together. None want any embarrassment at the end of it where Dinakaran manages to hold a major chunk of the MLAs.

When asked if back channel talks were on with the Dinakaran faction, the source did not confirm or deny. On the other hand there are attempts to lure some AIADMK MLAs into the BJP side. The first move would be to induct Venugopal and Thambidurai into the Union Government and then wait and watch how things pan out.

Recently the AIADMK's medical wing's former joint secretary Dr C N Rajadurai joined the BJP in Tamil Nadu. He said after joining that many loyalists of Jayalalithaa would join them. It may also be recalled that Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan too had predicted an exodus.
