New Delhi, Feb 10: In yet another trouble for Aam Aadmi Party, Congress on Tuesday demanded immediate resignation of Delhi Minister Imran Hussain after releasing a sting operation.

Congress released a sting operation alleging the sting has purportedly revealed that a Rs 30 lakh bribe was demanded by a person for regularising an illegal construction in Ballimaran area of north Delhi on his (Imran Hussain) behalf, a charge denied by the AAP leader.

Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken released a sting video, purportedly showing a man seeking money from one Qaseem. Maken claimed the man was Hammad, a staffer at Hussain's office. The man was also heard saying that they had to "give money" to get an AAP ticket in the assembly polls.

Congress also released two audio clips purportedly containing telephonic conversations of Qaseem with the minister's brother and an engineer of the municipal corporation.

In the audio clips, the minister's brother is heard asking the house owner about "samaan" and as to when it would be delivered, while the Junior Engineer was trying to impress upon him to give money to the minister. The AAP minister, who represents Ballimaran in the assembly, denied the charge as "baseless".

"I have nothing to do with the sting. The allegations are totally baseless. If Maken can prove the charges, I will quit politics. He should quit politics, if he fails," said Hussain, the Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, and Environment and Forests.

Hussain was made minister in October last, replacing Asim Ahmed Khan who was sacked by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for demanding a bribe of Rs 6 lakh from a builder.

Maken claimed "the sting operation takes the wind out of the probity and transparency claims" of Kejriwal who came to power promising corruption-free administration, and demanded a CBI probe into the matter. He said he would send copies of the video and audio clips to the Chief Minister and CBI.

Maken demanded that the Delhi Minister resign immediately till an independent probe is conducted into the sting operation. "Our demand is simple, Hussain must resign and there should be a CBI probe into it," he said.

Replying to questions, the Congress leader said if an impartial probe is held, Kejriwal too "cannot remain untouched" as there have been charges of selling tickets during polls.

AAP rubbishes Congress 'sting'

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday termed as "fabricated" a video clip the Congress produced to allege that Delhi's Food and Supplies Minister Imran Hussain is involved in demanding a bribe from a citizen.

"It is a fabricated sting operation and part of a conspiracy," AAP spokesperson Deepak Bajpai said, referring to the video clip that a Congress leader showed to media persons earlier in the day.

The video clip had neither Imran Hussain's voice nor his brother's, Bajpai said, adding that the allegations that Congress based on this "sting" were false.

BJP seeks Kejriwal's resignation

BJP on Wednesday sought the resignation of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over allegations of corruption against the office of Food and Civil Supplies Minister Imran Hussain following a sting operation.
"Broadcast of a video-audio sting by a TV channel has exposed his (Hussain's) corruption," said Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay. The Kejriwal government has no "moral right" to stay in power as one after another of his ministers is found to be "involved" in "corruption and fraud", the BJP leader said.
