Unhappy that his girl friend was going to Goa, this 32 year old man decided to send out a mail about a hijack threat. The man now in the custody of the Hyderabad police said that he wanted to stall his girlfriend's trip to Goa and hence he sent out the hoax mail to the Mumbai police.

To stall girlfriend from going to Goa, man sends hoax hijack email

The story gets even more interesting. Vamshi Krishna said that he had met the girl on Facebook. She told him that she wished to go on a trip to Goa. He did not have enough money to plan a trip. He went on to create a fake ticket and emailed it to her. She was to take the flight out of Chennai and meet him at Mumbai before going to Goa.

Vamshi however did not want the girl to know that the tickets were fake. He wanted to prevent her from going to the airport at any cost as he did not want her to catch his bluff. Before she could go to the airport, he sent out an email in the name of a lady to the police in Mumbai saying that six persons were planning to hijack flights leaving from Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad airports.

This sent the security mechanism into a tizzy. Emergency meetings were called and security was stepped up. However preliminary investigations suggested that the mail was a hoax.
