To quell infighting, UP CM appoints Dara Singh Chauhan as in-charge of PM's rally in Azamgarh
New Delhi, July 11: In a dramatic development, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has intervened into the infighting of the district Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders in Azamgarh by replacing the in-charge of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's rally in the district. The UP CM has appointed a minister in his cabinet Dara Singh Chauhan as the in-charge of the rally in place of Sahjanand Rai.
Sources said that Chouhan has a big following in the OBC and was defected from the Bahujan Samaj Party to the BJP. Now, the responsibility of making the rally successful is on Chauhan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address a rally on July 14, 2018 which is planned to woo OBCs of the districts of Azamgarh, Mau, Balia, Ghzipur and some other adjoining areas. The BJP feels that it is week in the region with sizable OBC population in the area.
Sources confirmed to OneIndia that the chief minister appointed Dara Singh Chauhan to quell the infighting in the local BJP by making him in-charge of the PM's rally in the district. Dara Singh Chauhan is MLA from Madhuban (Ghosi) Vidhan Sabha and was also in-charge of the BJP national president's rally earlier. He is a cabinet minister in the Yogi government.
Actually, member of the state executive committee, Krishna Murari Vishwakarma has raised the issue with the chief minister in the packed house of the BJP office bearers that not only OBCs are neglected but they are humiliated. The CM was here to take stock of the preparation of the rally. The CM immediately took action into the matter and removed Rai. Sources in the state BJP said that the decision of the chief minister was equally important. Had this decision not been taken, the rally the PM would have definitely flopped. Chauhan belongs to Azamgarh district. He is an OBC and families with the region so the rally could be managed well.
Sources further said that during a meeting that was being held to take stock of the situation that how preparation are going on for the rally, former in-charge of the rally Sahjanand Rai had picked up a fight with district BJP president Jaynath Singh in the presence of state BJP organising secretary Sunil Bansal. Rai had also abused another party leader Vinod Rajbhar in another meeting. There was bickering over the persons deployed to look after arrangement for the rally for them being mostly from a particular caste.
