Rao, who met Panneerselvam first after reaching Chennai on Thursday, assured the chief minister that justice would be done. Panneerselvam told Rao that he wished to withdraw his resignation. Panneerselvam did not give out details of what exactly transpired between him and Rao, but thanked the people for their support and said 'Dharma will win.'

Later, Sasikala Natrajan reached the Raj Bhavan in Chennai to meet the Governor. During the meeting, Sasikala told Rao that she should be invited to form the government in Tamil Nadu.
