Three held in Mangaluru after police open fire at gang
Police fired at a five-member gang travelling in a car which was attempting to carry out robbery on the highways and arrested three of them, the police said today. The incident occurred yesterday.
Police resorted to a cinematic style chase to stop the car which sped away despite being asked to stop at two checkposts.
Later, they were caught at Manihalla check-post in Bantwal by police who opened fire at them.
Two members of the gang fled the spot while the others were arrested. The arrested have been identified as Saddam, Mausin and Irshad, all belonging to the city and outskirts, the police said.
