Srinagar, Oct 17: Terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir snatched 5 rifles from security forces. The terrorists decamped with the guns after snatching it from policemen who were guarding the TV tower at Ananthnag, Jammu and Kashmir last night.

Police officials have launched a massive search operation. The number of terrorists involved in this operation is not clear. Sources, however, say that this appears to be a well planned-out operation and they do not rule out the hand of the Hizbul Mujahideen.

J&K: Terrorists decamp with 5 rifles

This is the second incident this month. On October 3, terrorists snatched rifles from police men at Kulgam. The terrorists had broken into the police picket and decamped with a huge cache of arms and ammunition.

The terrorists took away 250 rounds, ten magazines and five rifles, police officials said.

In another incident that took place on September 8, terrorists had overpowered the guards of National Conference leader, A R Khanday in Damhal Hanji Pora, Kulgam and decamped with six weapons. The terrorists took away 2 INSAS,1-SLR,2 AK-47 and 1-303.

Since the unrest broke out on July 9 a day after Hizbul Mujahideen commander and terrorist Burhan Wani was killed, several such incidents have been reported. Officials say that the number of recruits into terrorist camps have shot up. They are falling short of arms and ammunition and hence resort to snatching away weapons from security personnel.
