Tanzeem Merani once again vows to unfurl Indian flag in Srinagar's Lal Chowk
Tanzeem, hailing from Ahmedabad, wants to celebrate Raksha Bandhan with Army soldiers in Srinagar.
Undeterred by the ongoing unrest in Jammu and Kashmir, 14-year-old Tanzeem Merani has once again vowed to unfurl Indian flag at Lal Chowk in Srinagar on August 7.
Tanzeem, hailing from Ahmedabad, wants to celebrate Raksha Bandhan with Army soldiers in Srinagar, reports ANI.
She said, ''Last time I was stopped at the airport itself, and I unfurled the flag there. But I will make sure I do it this time at Lal Chowk.''
In fact, last year Tanzeem had vowed to unfurl the Indian flag in Srinagar on 15 August. She took the decision after seeing Pakistani and ISIS flags being hoisted in Kashmir.

Even her family supported the initiative, though it was not the right time go to the state. However, her father asked how long one should wait to hoist the flag. He had said that somebody needed to take a step in this direction, just like his daughter did.
Lal Chowk has a special place in the history Kashmir and India as well. It was at Lal Chowk that the first Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru unfurled the national flag in 1948.
It was in Lal Chowk that Sheikh Abdullah announced his love for Jawaharlal Nehru and India saying "I became you and You became I; so none can say we are separate".
Lal Chowk was named so by Left-wing activists inspired by the Russian Revolution as they fought ruler of Kashmir Maharaja Hari Singh.
