BJP bags Karnataka, Jaya sweeps Tamil Nadu

Bangalore, May 16: The results of the 2014 Lok Sabha election were declared on May 16. Here are the results in Tamil Nadu (39 seats) and Karnataka (28 seats).

6.00 pm: Karnataka final results: BJP wins 17 seats; Congress wins 9 and JD(S) wins 2 seats.

5.24 pm: Congress candidate from Mandya, Ramya congratulates JD(S) candidate K Puttaraju on his victory.

There was a good fight, but finally there has to be just one winner: Ramya, Congress candidate.

5.05 pm: ADMK candidate Dr. K Gopal wins from Nagapattinam and B Senguttuvan wins from Vellore in Tamil Nadu.

4.37 pm: CS Puttaraju of the JD(S) defeats Ramya in Mandya.

4.30 pm: BJP worker Shafiullah, 38, dies after suffering heart attack while celebrating party's victory in Davanagere.

4.15 pm: ADMK candidate Gopalakrishnan C wins from Nilgiris with 463,700 votes, defeating A Raja from DMK. NOTA stands third with around 46,000 votes.

3.19 pm: Gaddigoudar Parvtagouda Chandanagouda of BJP wins in Bagalkot.

3.12 pm: Congress candidate Prakash Hukkeri wins in Chikkodi.

3.05 pm: BJP candidate of Bangalor South, Ananth Kumar overwhelmed at victory.

3.03 pm: Congress candidate Veerappa Moily wins from Chikballapur, Bangalore.

2.46 pm: 42,000 NOTA votes in Nilgiris, Tamil Nadu.

2.27 pm: ADMK candidate Vasanthi M leads from Tenkasi, Tamil Nadu by over 224,370 votes.

2.15 pm: Kanimozhi says the party will take time to think over what went wrong.

1.55 pm: Bangalore South candidate from Congress - Nandan Nilekani says he's disappointed but happy that he had a nice campaign.

1.47 pm: Congress candidate BV Naik wins in Raichur. Close fight with Shivanagouda Naik of BJP.

1.42 pm: 31,000 NOTA votes in Nilgiris, Tamil Nadu at 3rd place. 11,000 NOTA in Bellary, Karnataka at 4th position.

1.35 pm: BJP candidate GM Siddeshwara wins in Davangere constituency.

1.31 pm: JD(S) candidate Deve Gowda wins in Hassan constituency.

1.24 pm: Congress candidate KH Muniyappa wins in Kolar.

1.20 pm: Jayalalithaa extends her wishes to the new Prime Minister.

12.58 pm: BJP candidate PC Mohan wins in Bangalore Central. Tight fight between Mohan and Congress candidate Rizwan Arshad.

12.45 pm: Union railway minister M Mallikarjuna Kharge wins in Gulbarga by a margin of 51000 votes.

12.42 pm: BJP candidate Ananth Kumar wins in Bangalore South constituency. Nandan Nilekani faces defeat.

12.39 pm: JD(S) candidate SV Puttaraju leads in Mandya. Ramya trails.

12.33 pm: ADMK candidate Prabhakaran is leading from Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu with over one lakh votes. ADMK candidate Jayasingh Thyagaraj Natterjee leading from Thoothukuddi with over 20,000 votes.

12.17 pm: Karnataka BJP president Prahlad Joshi wins in Dharwad by a margin of 50,000 votes.

12.07 pm: BJP candidate Pon Radhakrishnan leads from Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu.

PMK candidate Anbumani Ramadoss leades from Dharmapuri, Tamil Nadu.

ADMK candidate Thambidurai leads in Karur, Tamil Nadu.

DMK wiped out.

11.47 am: BJP's Bangalore South candidate Ananth kumar lead by over 104,360 votes.

Bangalore Central Congress candidate Rizwan Arshad leads and Bangalore Rural candidate DK Suresh leads.

11.40 am: BJP Bangalore North candidate D V Sadananda Gowda secures victory 90 thousand votes in Karnataka.
