Mumbai, April 12: More than 100 people said to have succumbed to swine flu disease in Maharashtra, said a state health department official on Tuesday.

Swine flu has claimed more than 100 lives across Maharashtra in 2017, a state Health Department official said on Tuesday.

Swine flu cases rise in Maharashtra

Joint director of Family Welfare Mukund Diggikar said that 101 people have died of swine flu till April 10 in the state. He added that the rise and fall in temperature might during the last few weeks have aggravated the infection.

He also said that almost all section of people died due H1N1 including the women and children and added that the pregnant women and children are more susceptible to swine flu. He said that 182 people tested positive for the viral infection while 7,381 people have shown symptoms similar to swine flu.

The officer also said that the health department had administered some medications to the patients but the treatment is yet commenced.

Till April 10, Nashik reported 20, which is the highest in Maharashtra, followed by Pune, 10 and Pimpri Chinchwad, 10 areas. He added that except for Konkan, every district had at least one case of swine flu death.
