Bhubaneswar, Nov 6: It's time to talk about toilet.

As a part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's pet project, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Mission), building toilets for everyone to end open defecation in the country has become a main priority.

However, after the news about an Odisha man being forced to stay in a toilet came to light, it looks like the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government at the Centre should also focus on building homes for millions of homeless in the country.

According to ANI, the man from Rourkela city in the state has been living in a toilet for the last three months because he has no "home".

Talking to ANI about his plight, Chotu Rautia said that since his house got damaged he has no place to sleep. Thus, he is staying in the toilet within the compound of his house. He added that the administration assured him to give him a new house.

"My house got damaged. Where else would I sleep? I informed about it to the government officials. They told me they would give me a house. (Ghar toot gaya hai, aur kahan soyenge? Prashasan ko bataya tha, unhone kaha tha denge)," Chotu added.

However, when ANI asked a senior official about the case, he denied that Chotu was staying in a toilet.

"We haven't conducted a detailed inquiry, but I spoke to him (Chotu). He is not staying in the toilet but outside," said the official.

"We are trying to help him by providing him with a house. Meanwhile, we are trying to provide Chotu with a temporary shelter," he added.
