Kolkata, Feb 27:The National Investigating Agency (NIA) which is probing a case relating to an ISIS module in India has detained a youth from Burdwan in West Bengal.

The youth identified as Asif Ahmed is a student at a college in Burdwan and he is being questioned on the suspicion that he could be part of the India wide module of the ISIS.

The NIA had last month busted in what it calls a major module. Over 15 arrests across the country were carried out.

Several persons from Karnataka, Telangana, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh were arrested in connection with this case.

The NIA which questioned Ahmed has not yet arrested him formally. No decision has been taken as yet to arrest him as they are still ascertaining his role in this module. The NIA suspects that he was part of a group called the Junud-al-Khilafa-e-Hind. This group is the Indian version of the ISIS, the NIA had said.

The probe into this case has been slow. While the NIA was quick to make arrests, the probe that followed has been relatively slow.

NIA officials tell OneIndia that the probe is on the right track and they are in the process of collecting digital evidence since there has been a lot of communication that has been online.

We have requested for details from authorities in the Gulf as well as Syria. The NIA is also tracking down Bhatkal resident Shafi Armar who is believed to be the head of this module.
