Five soldiers have been martyred and four terrorists were killed in the Sunjwan attack at Jammu and Kashmir after the group of heavily-armed Jaish-e-Muhammad militants dressed in army fatigues stormed into the camp at around 4.45 a.m on Saturday.

The attack continued for the second day with the forces trying to flush out the terrorists. On Saturday three terrorists were killed in the attack.

The terrorists had struck before dawn on Saturday and managed to sneak into the camp from the rear side of the base after a brief exchange of fire with the sentry on its periphery.

"Search of their belongings confirms the terrorists to be from Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM). Operations are in progress with extreme caution and restraint to safeguard the unarmed soldiers, women and children in the houses," a Defence statement said.

Most of over 150 houses in the complex have been cleared and occupants moved to safety, it said.
