A pregnant woman injured in the Sunjuwan Army camp attack delivered a baby girl at the Satwari military hospital.

The wife of rifleman, Nazir Ahmed who was 35 weeks pregnant was shot in the lower back after terrorists of the Jaish-e-Mohammad attacked the camp.She was rushed to the military hospital in an Army chopper, where a caesarean section was performed on her on Sunday.

Army PRO, Lt Col Devendra Anand told reporters that the Army doctors worked all night to save the life of the severely injured pregnant woman with gunshot wounds and helped her deliver a baby girl, following a caesarean section operation.

"The woman delivered a baby girl weighing 2.5kg. The condition of both the mother and the baby are stable," he added.

Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah termed it a "good news". "Amidst the tragedy reports of some good news - an injured wife of one of the soldiers delivered a baby at the Military Hospital in Jammu," he said in a tweet.
