Success: Forces gun down 8 dreaded naxals
Bhopal, July 20: In a major operation, security forces have gunned down 8 naxalites in an encounter that took place at the south Bastar region in Chhattisgarh. Among the 8 naxals gunned, four were women.
A joint search party of the district reserve group and special task force was attacked by a group of armed naxals in the forest near Timinar, which led to a fierce battle. The encounter lasted nearly two hours.
Several naxalites fled from the spot after the encounter. Later on, the forces recovered 8 bodies of naxalites and a huge cache of arms which included INSAS assault rifles, 303 rifles, a bore gun and muzzle loading guns.
The search party set into the forest, after it received concrete intelligence about the presence of naxalites. The forces received a tip off about the presence of Ganesh Uiki, who is a strategist for the naxalites.
Following the encounter, Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh called Chhattisgarh Chief Minister, Raman Singh and congratulated him on the successful encounter.
