Sub Inspector's death: Duo arrested

All in the family

Madhu and Harish Babu were part of a notorious gang which indulged in vehicle thefts and chain snatching. The members of this gang are originally from Nelamangala but had shifted recently to Gulbarga.

Harish Babu the father of Madhu were part of this gang for long and are wanted in several cases.

The police say that it was Madhu's mother who was running the gang before she was arrested recently. The gang members comprise only family members and the police are now on the look out for the relatives of both Harish and Madhu.

All the members used to report to the mother who would dispose off the booty and also distribute the money among the gang members.

The police say that the arrest is a major breakthrough as it would help solve a lot of pending cases. This gang used to operate across the state and at times were seen in Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra as well.

It is an inter state gang and there may be around 12 members in it, police officials also say. The duo once in Bengaluru will be questioned by a team of police officials. They are expected to reveal more about the whereabouts of their gang members and also modus operandi.

How the duo were caught?

After killing the Sub Inspector a few days back, the father-son duo contacted a friend of theirs' at Kurnool. They were in regular touch with the man at Kurnool. The duo who were in Nagpur made at least 87 calls to their friend and sought his help. The police however kept a tab on all the calls that were made.

When the duo were convinced that the money would be arranged for and they could stay safely in Kurnool, they decided to board a train. By then a team of the Bengaluru police had already reached there and nabbed both of them.
