Srinagar attack: Hanzala is safe, has reached destination says Hizbul
He has reached his destination safely, the Hizbul Mujahideen said after dreaded Lashkar-e-Tayiba terrorist, Naveed Jhatt alias Abu Hanzala escaped from a hospital in Srinagar.
An audio clip running into 8 minutes claimed that Hanzala had reached his destination in South Kashmir safely. It may be recalled that terrorists had fired at a police party accompanying Hanzala and others at the Shri Maharaja Hari Singh hospital in Srinagar. This was done to facilitate his escape.
Justifying the killing of the two policemen, Riyaz Naikoo of the Hizbul Mujahideen said in the clip that it had to be done to defend their Pakistani brother. We were heartbroken when we saw the children of the two policemen. While we do not want to kill any Kashmiri, we have forced to do so as they are aligning with the Indian forces, Naikoo also said.
Srinagar: How Hanzala and his accomplices planned the escape
The audio clip comes in the wake of the Lashkar-e-Tayiba claiming responsibility for the attack. When an officer was asked if there is a claim game on, he said that it appears to have been a joint operation. Both the outfits are desperate for survival and hence have been carrying out joint operations.
To operate in the south of Kashmir, the Lashkar-e-Tayiba needs the support of the Hizbul Mujahideen the officer also noted.
