Over 70 cases of theft reported at Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's event
New Delhi, Mar 15: Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's World Culture Festival began and ended on a high note with many dignitaries attending the event but reports are now pouring in that suggest that the Delhi Police has registered over 70 cases of theft.
According to reports, Delhi Police registered over 70 theft-related FIRs at the World Culture Festival.
AOL World Culture Festival: NGT panel to assess damage
Reports suggest that over 30 people have been arrested so far in cases relating to theft of cash, mobile phones, laptops and more. Most of them arrested are from Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Kerala.
Art of Living Foundation had courted controversy with respect to the event for flouting environment norms. Activists alleged that the organisers had damaged the ecosystem of the Yamuna river as the event was held on its flood plains.
The National Green Tribunal (NGT) had slapped a fine of Rs 5 crore on AOL for the same. According to latest reports, a team from the NGT will visit the Yamuna floodplains to asses the damage done by the event.
