Washington, Sep 12: All these years, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi has been attacked by his critics for having an easy entry into politics because of his pedigree, in spite of lacking talent and flair to run a government efficiently.

His critics have been right to a great extent as till now Rahul did not even show any efficiency to manage the Congress well all these years, especially after the party's debacle in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

Then, why is Rahul still the de facto owner of the Congress? The answer is simple: he is the male heir of the Gandhi family and as policies of "dynasty" go, Rahul is the head of the party. It simply does not matter whether he is capable or not, it's his "birthright" that makes him the chief of the Congress.

So, on Tuesday, when Rahul was addressing an event at the famous University of California, Berkeley, in the United States, he ended up supporting dynasties and dynasts.

"Most parties in India have that problem. So don't give us stick because Akhilesh Yadav is a dynast. Stalin is a dynast. (Prem Kumar) Dhumal's son is a dynast, even Abhishek Bachchan is a dynast. That is how India runs," Rahul's reply to dynastic politics.

Well, he too is aware about being part of the much-maligned dynastic politics. But, instead of criticising the inherent problem of India, where a doctor's son becomes a doctor and a farmer's son invariably becomes a farmer, Rahul supported dynasties and dynasts for his selfish interest.

What is more outrageous is that he said that the country is run by dynasts. Sorry Rahul, our Prime Minister Narendra Modi comes from a humble background, but he managed to scale great heights because of his talent and hard work.

So is India's greatest batsman, Sachin Tendulkar, whose father was not a cricketer. But it is his sheer love, dedication and natural flair for the game that made Sachin a legend.

We can give a thousand such examples to highlight the fact that pedigree does come handy to enter a field, but unless and until a person is not talented, capable and hardworking, nobody can excel in any field.

Perhaps, realising his own mistake after blatantly supporting dynasts and dynasties, Rahul said that he was trying to change the policies in the Congress.

"But saying that, I do try to sort of change it in the Congress. If you look at the Congress, there are a large number of people who are not from dynastic families at all. I can name them in every state."

He added that the real question is whether the person is actually capable. "Is the person a sensitive person? That is the question," Gandhi said.

Now, we have to see what Akhilesh, Abhishek and Stalin have to say about Rahul's comments on dynastic families as the scion of Gandhi family named them to make his case stronger.
