Sonowal takes stock of damages caused by storm in Majuli
Guwahati, May 27: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday took stock of the damages caused by storm in his home constituency Majuli island.
Sonowal, who is in Shillong to take part in the 65th Plenary of the North Eastern Council today, called up Jorhat Deputy Commissioner over phone and took stock of the extent of damages caused by last night's storm in Majuli, considered to be Asia's largest river island in Brahmaputra.
The Chief Minister also directed the Deputy Commissioner to press his men into services for restoration of all basic amenities at the earliest, a government release here said.
Heavy storm ravaged Majuli last night damaging hundreds of houses and affecting essential services, the release added.
