Guwahati, Aug 9: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal called on Governor P B Acharya at Raj Bhawan to discuss prevailing security scenario in the state in the aftermath of the Kokrajhar incident where arms-wielding militants gunned down 15 people and injured 19 others.

The Governor asked Sonowal to put in place full proof security measure especially in view of the upcoming Independence Day celebrations, a Raj Bhavan statement said.

He also said that the miscreants were hell bent to make their presence felt and as such they may try to carry out subversive activities and terrorise the people.

The Governor, therefore, advised that the security machinery must be on its toes to foil any ulterior motive of any militant organisation and adopt "zero tolerance" towards any element trying to disturb peace and tranquility in the state.
