Social activists get rape and murder threat from radicals for fighting against nikah halala
New Delhi, Jul 21: A social activist, writer and film maker Amber Zaidi is getting threats of rape, assault and even life for opposing tripple talaq and nikah halala by the radicals on social media platform. Casual threats on social media handles of Zaidi were part of her life but they intensified after the ruckus during the television debate in which she was personally targeted for supporting these issues and her co-panelist Farah Faiz was assaulted during the live debate.
Amber Zaidi, who is working on a film on nikah halala, told One India, "We made a formal complain at Sector 20 police station of Noida, Uttar Pradesh but I want to convert it into an FIR as I am getting continuous threats of being raped, assaulted and even getting killed from all across. I have deleted my original Facebook account but threat on my twitter and mail still continuing."
She said that general people with real IDs are threatening me. Earlier some of the IDs were fake but now they are both fake and real IDs. The number of such threats have increased so much that it has gone out of control and I was forced to delete my original account.
Actually a Muslim cleric Mufti Ejaz Arshad Qasmi slapped advocate Farah Faiz, who is fighting cases against tripple talaq, during a television debate. Qasmi has been arrested after an FIR was lodged against him and even bail has been denied to him and he has been sent to judicial custody. But threat against Zaidi is continuing, so Zaidi wants her complain to be changed into proper FIR.
Zaidi said that she wanted her complain to be made proper FIR and will try to get it done soon. She said that she was avoiding visiting Sector 20, Noida due to looming threats. She also said that people abusing me are also trying to hack my account so I have changed my account. "Earlier I had made a complained in the Economic Offense Wing (EOW) at the Hanuman Road police station for threats unleashed on me but this time round the threat perception is really big," said Amber.
She said, "Though I have been getting threats from years and EOW people told me some of them are originating from Saudi Arabia as they tried to locate them on my complain. But after the recent incidence, threats are from such social media handles that are not not fake but genuine handles and from India. "So I want action against them as my security can't be ensured without that," Added Amber.
