'Sir, speak up. Don’t let future Indians ask, Why was he silent?', Prakash Raj to Bachchan
The multilingual actor Prakash Raj has urged Superstar Amitabh Bachchan to speak up against hatred, bigotry and violence tearing into the vitals of India. Prakash Raj requested Big B in a 25 minutes facebook video published on Churmuri blog run by senior journalist Krishna Prasad.
"You are a big guy, Sir. We respect you a lot. Don't let future generations ask, 'When society was in danger, why were you silent?'" Prakash Raj said in a Facebook broadcast.
Prakash Raj urged Bachchan Sr:
"You are a great voice, Sir. You are rich enough to lose. That's what richness is.
"Speak up, Sir. I request you to speak up. Don't give me reasons, don't give me excuses that I'm old, i don't want to get into it.
"You are a wonderful man. You have read poetry. You're a sensitive man. We need your voice.
"They can't take away a thing from you, because I don't believe you are supporting them. But by not voicing [your thoughts] you are not helping us."
On Bachchan's silence on the brutal kidnapping, rape and murder of a girl in Kathua Praksh Raj said:
"I felt let down when I heard that. It's your right to speak or not to speak. Sometimes you have to speak.
"Yes, it is disgusting. Talking about it is not disgusting. It could be my daughter. It could be anybody's daughter."
Amitabh Bachchan is the brand ambassador of the 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' program.
