Bhopal, Nov 17: Days after the shocking deaths of 14 women who underwent tubectomy in Chhattisgarh a case of open air postmortem came to light from neighbouring Madhya Pradesh.

It has come to fore that medical staff posted in tribal-dominated Jhabua district of Madhya Pradesh performed open autopsy on a tractor trolley.

On being asked why they performed the autopsy surgery in open, the doctors said there was no room where the doctors could conduct the postmortem.

The report says that the man died in a thunderstorm following which his body was brought to Raipuriya. But, as there was no room for conducting postmortem, the doctors performed the same in open reportedly on the insistence of deceased's family.

Many villagers were also present when the postmortem was being carried out.

The doctors said they told the deceased's family that there is no facility to conduct the postmortem report but the family insisted to conduct the same anyhow.

The report said that in July, the National Human Rights Commission had served a notice to the State Government after a similar case of open postmortem came to light. The hospital staff in Garhakota in Sagar district was conducting autopsies in open after the postmortem wing of the hospital collapsed.
