Shiv Sena leader shot dead in Mumbai
Two bike-borne men shot dead a Shiv Sena leader on Sunday night. Sanjay Sawant who was the Deputy Shakha Pramukh was shot dead at around 9.30 pm in Gokul Nagar on Akurli road in Kandivali (East).
"Four rounds were fired at Sawant, who collapsed on the ground. He was taken to Shatabdi hospital but was declared brought dead," said a police officer. Kurar police have lodged a case of murder against two unknown people.
Earlier this month, two Sena leaders Sanjay Kotkar and Vasant Thube were murdered in Kedgaon in Ahmednagar district. Kotkar was the deputy chief of the Ahmednagar city unit of the Sena. He and Thube were killed hours after the results of a civic bypoll were announced. Kotkar and Thube were on a motorcycle when two bike-borne assailants chased them and shot at Kotkar. He fell off the bike and was attacked with a sharp weapon, the police had said adding that Thube, who tried to flee, was chased by the assailants and shot dead.
