Days after Yogi Adityanath proposed the construction of a grand statue of Lord Ram at Ayodhya, Shia Waqf Board Chairman Waseem Rizvi on Thursday met the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister in Lucknow. The Uttar Pradesh Shia Waqf Board had last month announced that it will gift 10 silver arrows if the 100-metre tall Lord Ram statue is built in Ayodhya.

Rizvi has in the past drawn flak from several Muslim bodies for his stand over the Ram Temple issue. Rizvi earlier met the Art of Living founder in Bengaluru and apprised him of the Board's stand that a Ram temple should be built at the site.

Maulana Kalbe Jawad, general secretary of Majlis-e-Ulama-e-Hind had criticised Rizvi for extending support for construction of Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya and alleged that his statement was issued under pressure.

UP Shia Central Waqf Board had also suggested the demolition of the Humayun Tomb. It can be converted into a graveyard for Muslims, Waseem Rizvi said in a letter to the Prime Minister.

He said this would solve the grave problem being faced by the Muslims of Delhi for burying the dead.
