Sheena Bora Mystery Continues: Boyfriend Rahul Mukerjea's version, a tale of Love, Money & Murder

Mumbai, Dec 18: They, a boy and a girl, were young, they were in love and all set to tie nuptial knots. But they were separated from each other, as the girl was killed by her mother. The boy tried to contact her, but he was told that she had left the country. However, three years after the incident, the real story was unfolded.

No, we are not talking about any Hindi movie plot of Bollywood, this was the story of Sheena Bora and Rahul Mukerjea, the couple whose love story met with a tragic end abruptly.

Now, Rahul Mukerjea, the son of former media tycoon Peter Mukerjea, recorded his statement with Mumbai Police and CBI in connection with the sensational murder case, a tale of love, money and mother.

Sheena did not want to be recognised as Indrani's sister

According to police sources, Rahul told investigating officers that Sheena was upset with Indrani who had introduced Sheena to the world as her sister. 23-year-old Sheena was also upset to see that Vidhie, her step sister, used to enjoy the status which she was deprived of.

Rahul reportedly cops that Sheena wanted to stop pretending as sister of Indrani Mukerjea, the main accused and Sheena's mother.

"Sheena said she felt that Vidhie (daughter of Indrani and her former husband Sanjeev Khanna) was being treated as her daughter, which she found very unfair," Rahul said.

In a statement, Rahul said that Indrani constantly kept changing her story about Sheena's "disappearance" after her murder in 2012. The copy of the statement was made available to defence advocates.

Sheena and Rahul were first separated in 2009

Rahul, who used to stay with Sheena in a rented flat, also stated that in Mar 2009, just before Indrani and her colleague visited his flat at Khar in Mumbai, Peter had told him that Indrani was coming to his place and that she wanted to separate them. "Later Indrani came and took Sheena away," he said.

Two months later, Sheena contacted him and said that she was in Bangalore, Rahul said. According to Rahul, Sheena had told him that from the joint bank account (of Indrani and Sheena) Rs 15,000 had been withdrawn (which Sheena had not) and her mobile had also been disconnected.

"In 2012, Sheena wanted to complete her further studies and was in need of funds and hence she resumed communications with Indrani," he said.

The last day when they met

On April 24, 2012, (the day of her murder) Sheena had met Indrani, after he dropped her in suburban Bandra. However, when he tried to contact her again, Indrani sent text messages from Sheena's mobile saying that she (Sheena) had met somebody else and also sought two months time to contact him (Rahul) again.

Rahul said that after he went to Peter's residence in Worli in south Mumbai and did not find Sheena there, he approached the police.

"Police told me that if Sheena had gone with her mother, she would soon return. They also asked me not to worry and also that we were not yet married," Rahul said.

He also said that Indrani kept changing her story (about Sheena) constantly.

Rahul said that he also met former Inspector General of Police Paramvir Singh and Sheena's superior in Mumbai metro Shubhodoy Mukherjee, who advised him to file a missing person's report. He said that police were unwilling to take the missing person's complaint.

Who was Sheena Bora?

Sheena was Indrani's daughter from her first marriage with Siddharth Das. Indrani later got married to Sanjeev Khanna and the couple have one daughter Vidhie. However, the couple separated from each other and Indrani got married to former media baron Peter Mukerjea.

During their marriage, Indrani had introduced Sheena as her sister and not daughter. Rahul is Peter Mukerjea's son from his previous marriage.

It has been alleged that Indrani was upset with Sheena when she fell in love with Rahul and started staying in a live-in relationship in Mumbai.

Indrani along with Sanjeev Khanna and driver Shyam Rai allegedly made the murder plot and killed Sheena and disposed of her body in a jungle near Mumbai.

Though Sheena was killed in 2012, the real incident was revealed only in Aug 2015 when Mumbai Police arrested Indrani, Sanjeev and Shyam Rai. The case later was handed over to CBI who later arrested Peter Mukerjea as another main conspirator in the case.
