Sexual abuse case: Self-styled godman Siva Shankar Baba booked under Pocso Act
Chennai, June 13: Self-styled godman Siva Shankar Baba, who has been accused of sexually harassing school students, was booked under POCSO act.
The move comes after few students alleged that the founder of Sushil Hari International Residential School in Chennai sexually harassed them.
Reportedly, he did not appear before Chennai's child rights' body, stating he suffered a heart attack.
Cases have been filed under several sections of the Prevention of Children against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and under the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and include sexual assault.
The matter came to light when G. Rajagopal, a teacher of Chennai's Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan, was arrested for misbehaving with his students.
The former students of the Sushil Hari International Residential School after Rajagopal's arrest alleged on Twitter that they were harassed by the self-styled godman.
However, the school said some very serious allegations of misconduct have been alleged against you and the same has come to the knowledge of the management from and through social media (sic) and that the school had never "received any written complaint" following the arrest of their teacher G Rajagopalan on charges of sexual harassment.
