New Delhi, July 27: Congress MP Jyotiraditya Scindia alleged that the Madhya Pradesh government dropped his name from invitations meant for inauguration of a highway in his constituency after which Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari apologised and said "it should not have happened."

Scindia, who represents Guna constituency in Madhya Pradesh, said in the Lok Sabha on Thursday that as per the protocol local MPs should be invited to such programmes. He further threatened to move a privilege motion against the state chief minister.

Responding to this, Gadkari said he was aware of the matter and it should not have happened.

"As I was present there, I should be responsible for this. MPs name should have been there. I apologise on behalf of everybody and next time it will not happen," Gadkari said.

Scindia stated that interest of MPs should be protected and action should be taken against people who are responsible for this mistake.

Scindia then repeatedly raised the matter despite Union Minister's apology after which Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan said it was Gadkari's greatness that he has tendered an apology on the matter, as per a PTI report.

"Kya sanrakshan lathh leke dun (Should I use a baton to provide protection)," Mahajan then said on a lighter note.
