SC to hear plea to transfer Shahabuddin to Delhi Tuesday
The Supreme Court will hear a plea on Tuesday seeking transfer of Mohammad Shahabuddin from Siwan to another jail and his trial in Delhi.
New Delhi, Nov 28: The Supreme Court will on Tuesday hear a plea seeking transfer of Mohammad Shahabuddin from Siwan district jail to another jail and his trial in Delhi.
The Supreme Court will also hear a plea for the handing over the cases of the RJD strongman to the Central Bureau of Investigaion.
The bench of Justice Dipak Misra and Justice Amitava Roy said this while senior counsel Shekhar Naphade appearing for Shahabuddin opposed the plea.
The Supreme Court in last week of September set aside the Patna high court order granting bail to controversial RJD leader Shahabuddin in connection with murder of an eye-witness, whose two brothers had been killed by his henchmen.
Shahabuddin granted bail by the Patna High Court on September 7, was released from Bhagalpur jail on September 10. He was in jail for 11 years in connection with dozens of cases against him.
SC defers hearing of plea against Shahabuddin's bail
Kalawati Devi, wife of Chandrakeshwar Prasad and the mother of three youths who were killed by henchmen of the gangster turned politician, had also moved the Supreme Court seeking cancellation of bail granted to him in the case in which he has already been sentenced to life.
