Saudi horror: Indian woman’s hand chopped off by employer, MEA terms it brutal
New Delhi, Oct 9: A shocking and brutal news has emerged from Saudi Arabia where an Indian woman's hand has been chopped off by her employer after she complained about poor working conditions last week.
The victim identified as Kashturi Munirathinam, in her late 50s hails from Indian state of Tamil Nadu, was working as a domestic help in Riyadh.
According to reports, the incident took place on September 29 when she was trying to escape from the house through the balcony.
Terming as "unacceptable" the incident where an Indian woman's hand was chopped off by her employer in Saudi Arabia, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj today said the matter has been taken up with Saudi authorities.
"We are very much disturbed over the brutal manner in which Indian lady has been treated in Saudi Arabia," said Swaraj.

"Indian embassy in Saudi Arabia was in touch with Munirathinam," tweeted Swaraj.
Kasturi, who is now in hospital, went to Saudi Arabia to work as a domestic help three months ago.
