A day after pro-Kannada organisations called for a statewide bandh demanding a ban on Baahubali 2, the film's director S S Rajamouli made an appeal. In a video message in Kannada, Rajamouli said that Satyaraj's comments were personal and the film should not suffer for the same.

Director S S Rajamouli

"Satyaraj is neither the director nor the producer of Baahubali. He is only an actor like many in the film. He doesn't stand to lose anything if the film doesn't release," Rajamouli said in his video statement. He asked those opposing the movie to spare a thought for the hundreds of people who would be affected if the movie is stalled. "It is not right to stall the movie's release because of his personal comments. We have already informed Satyaraj of the situation but there is very little we can do beyond that," he said.

The team that was supposed to address a press conference in Bengaluru had to cancel it at the last moment due to severe protests by pro-Kannada organisations. "I request all to not involve us and the film in a matter that we have no connections with. Thank you for your support and love," he concluded.

His statement comes a day after pro-Kannada organisations said that they will stop all cinema halls from screening the movie and asked distributors to not keep the film away from Karnataka. Pro-Kannada organisations have called for a bandh on the day of the film's release. Groups have been protesting against the release of the film demanding that actor Satyaraj, who plays a role in the movie, apologise for his statements against Karnataka and Kannadigas during Cauvery standoff between the two states.
